100th Match vs BEGS in Mid-May
This year we celebrate a momentous occasion as we will be playing our 100th matchversus the Cardiff Exchange in mid May. The first match took place on 18 March 1911 @ Southerndown with the Baltic losing the match by 8 – 2, although the brief report published in The Times stated 9 – 21/2….!
This inaugural match was followed by an excellent multiple course dinner (in French) held at The Royal Hotel, Cardiff (clearly the notion of calories was not for consideration). Some relevant documents from the Baltic archives that survived the Blitz. Maybe we should be considering suitable music for our Annual Dinner….
Little did anyone realise that this match would continue for so long that we are now approaching the 100th Anniversary.
